MY BOOKS

I am a translator, professor and author. I have translated many works of contemporary literature including books by John Grisham, Rosamunde Pilcher, John Katzenbach, as well as Encyclopaedias and works of sociology and economics. My own books cover areas of Aesthetics, British and American Culture and Civilisation as well as my favourite field of research: Translation Studies.

Linguistic influences on the Contemporary Aesthetic Discourse (in Romanian)

ISBN-973-8155-01-0

This book is an overview of the influences of British and American 20th century arts and arts' terminology on the Romanian area of fine arts and their specific discourse.

It was the result of my Ph.D research and my first "baby". It was great to research this field - and wonderful to write about it!

Topics of British and American Culture and Civilization

CONSPRESS, 2008. ISBN-978-973-100-034-3

My book on British and American culture is not a historic overview, but rather my way of looking at complex international events and developments from the point of view of CULTURE, in Hofstede's understanding of the concept. Events, I state, are culturally determined and the relationship between countries and nations, as well as the way in which they influence one another, is also based on cultural realities at a certain time in history.

Exploring Translation Studies

CONSPRESS 2009. ISBN-978-973-100-079-4

This is one of my dearest books so far. Before starting to teach Translation Theory I took a long time researching this field. I had already proved myself as a translator, but coming into contact with theory was both surprising and mind-opening. I have considered it a major chance in my professional development to have had the benefit of understanding the practice of translation from a theoretical point of view as well.

I am sure it is not the last I have said on this topic. My many articles presented at various international conferences on this topic will be a basis for new books in the future.

Localisation - the New Challenge for Translators

CONSPRESS, 2014. ISBN-978-973-100-358-0

This is a book which focuses on the challenges faced by contemporary translators with the development of new technologies and new multi-media interests of the end-users.

Mobile phone applications, computer games, websites, software - all of these need translation and cultural adaptation in order to be acceptable on new markets and in new cultures. Multiculturalism has given rise to a better understanding of cultural specificity and now translators must adapt to the new requirements.
